Requirements for Getting the Golden Visa in Bahrain

You might have read about the Golden Visa Program in Bahrain. Mr Yusuf Ali, Lulu Chairman, MD Yusuff Ali is the first recipient of the Golden Visa.

If you are also interested in this scheme then below are the requirements for Golden Visa but before that lets understand what is a Golden Visa?

Golden Visa is a program through which Talented people, resident foreigners (employee or retired), retired foreigner, and real estate owners can get residence in Bahrain which is renewable indefinitely, unlimited entry and exit permissions, to work in Bahrain and gives residency to family members.
Below are the requirements for getting the Golden Visa in Bahrain related to each group.
For a retired foreigner

1.1 A clear copy of the passport valid for more than 6 months. (Please attach a copy of the page family information or any other additional information).

1.2 A clear copy of the ID card.

1.3 A clear copy of the good conduct certificate.

1.4 A clear copy of proof of retirement certificate.

1.5 A clear copy of a valid health insurance certificate in the Kingdom of Bahrain.

1.6 A clear copy of the proof of the basic salary of the applicant, provided that it is BD 4000 or more.

1.7 A clear copy of the previous residence permit (for new issuance requests only).

1.8 A clear copy of the applicant's six-month bank statement.

1.9 Medical report indicating the applicant is free from contiguous diseases (less than 3 months from the application date).
For a foreigner who owns properties in the Kingdom of Bahrain

2.1 A clear copy of the passport valid for more than 6 months. (Please attach a copy of the page family information or any other additional information).

2.2 A clear copy of the ID card.

2.3 A clear copy of the certificate of good conduct.

2.4 A clear copy of the title deed that proves that the value of the properties owned by the foreigner in his name are not less 200,000 BD

2.5 A clear copy of a valid health insurance certificate in the Kingdom of Bahrain.

2.6 A clear copy of the applicant's six-month bank statement.

2.7 Clear copy of previous residence for new applications. (If any).

2.8 Medical report indicating the applicant is free from contagious diseases (less than 3 months from the application date).
For a foreigner with talent

3.1 A clear copy of the passport valid for more than 6 months. (Please attach a copy of the family information page or any other additional information).

3.2 A clear copy of the certificate of good conduct.

3.3 A clear copy of a certificate proving that the applicant is gifted (such as academics, athletes,

Entrepreneurs, inventors, award-winning artists and authors, and their peers)

3.4 A clear copy of a valid health insurance certificate in the Kingdom of Bahrain.

3.5 A clear copy of the applicant's six-month bank statement.

3.6 Medical report indicating the applicant is free from contiguous diseases (less than 3 months from the application date)

3.7 A clear copy of the ID card (if applicable)

3.8 A clear copy of the previous residence permit (if applicable)

3.9 Approval from an accredited business incubator in Bahrain (for start-ups only)

3.10 PhD certificate (academics only)

3.11 Higher education degree in one of the priority specializations as determined by the Higher Education Council (academics only)

3.12 A copy of the patent document (patent owners only).
For a resident foreigner (Employee or Retired)

4.1 A clear copy of the passport valid for more than 6 months. (Please attach a copy of the page family information or any other additional information).

4.2 A clear copy of the ID card.

4.3 A clear copy of proof of retirement certificate.

4.4 A clear copy of the proof of the basic salary of the applicant, provided that it is BD 2000 or more.

4.5 A clear copy of the applicant's six-month bank statement.
Other important things that are to be considered are

  1. Retired (not residing in Bahrain) from Bahrain or any country in the world earning a basic salary not less than BD 4,000 ; OR
  2. Owner of properties in Bahrain with total value not less than BD 200,000 when the properties were purchased; OR
  3. Talented individuals nominated by a government agency in certain fields; OR
  4. An employee working in Bahrain for no less than 5 years with an average salary not less than BD 2,000 in the past 5 years; OR
  5. Retired in Bahrain, resident in the Kingdom for no less than 5 years with an average salary not less than BD 2,000 in the past 5 years
  6. Holds valid insurance upon issuance of permanent residency.
